24 Hours in Frankfurt
For avid traveler, a tourism city in just one day does not seem to be a good idea at all. But there are others who prefer to do some laps and see the best sites, take pictures and possibly bring home a few keepsakes and collectibles. Most business travelers with a spare day before or after a conference or a sale of assets fall into this category. Frankfurt and to be one of the busiest hub airports in Europe, fits perfectly into this framework.
Your tour to the city centre. This is probably a half-day more. Before the Second World War bombing flattened the city, this was one of the Germany’s largest and most historic sites. Restored with gusto, the old road to bring here some of the most monumental monuments. Take a trip to Goethehaus, the house where the largest German writer, Goethe, was born in 1749. Did you know that Frankfurt had a town hall as early as 1405? Romer, the official seat of the mayor of Frankfurt, is surrounded by three homes with Gothic gables strengthened. Römerberg is the center of the old historic Altstadt, and renowned for these spectacular wooden houses, which were reported to their original form. The second floor of the house includes the centre of the Imperial Hall, where you can see the romanticized the 19 th century portraits of 52 emperors. The Imperial Hall can be visited as part of a tour, provided that it is not being used for any special events.
If you are an artsy person, Liebieghaus, housed in a villa 1896, will be a memorable treat. Rivalizzano only by the Bargello in Florence, this is one of the most important museums in Europe sculpture. Visitors can take a peek in his impressive collection of objects from Egypt, classical Greece and Rome, medieval and Renaissance Europe. If time does not allow you to explore the entire site, be sure to check the 8 th century BC bronze horse, and Roman copies of the Torso of Polycletus, Praxiteles of Satyr, and Myron’s Athena.
